WHAT HAPPENS AT $5?
This one has been sitting in my Inbox for a little while. And I think it nicely sums up what is going on today. I’ve noticed more and more people riding their bikes for everything. Whether they’re commuting, going to the store, or grabbing a cup of coffee. The never ending gas price increases are being felt by everyone.Â
Recently Presidential Candidate Barack Obama met with Bikes Belong members in Chicago. In the private 20 minute meeting Obama told members…
“…if he were elected president he would increase funding for cycling and pedestrian projects…he would support Safe Routes to Schools programs…(that) he seldom makes promises on what he would do if elected president, but that this was a promise he would keep.”Â
While this doesn’t provide immediate help, it does provide opportunity for the future. The rest of the article can be found here.Â
Steve Meineke, the President of Raleigh America is also the Vice-President on the Board of Bikes Belong.Â

I don’t know about $5 a gallon, but I wonder if you could build a tandem for ‘bike-pooling’ at $10 a gallon…

With MSN News reporting the ‘Death of the Mini-Van’ we just might have to build a Family Edition Tandem.
