RALEIGH STEEL SIGHTING
This is pretty exciting.Â
In an age of carbon this and carbon that, we’ve gone back to our roots and constructed a stellar line of steel bicycles. When we released the Rush Hour a few short years ago, we had no idea that it would be as well received as it has been. Since then we’ve added the Sojourn and One-Way, which have even attracted the attention of Pro Tour rider Ivan Basso. Which is why it’s so exciting that for 2009 we’ll be introducing 2 more classic All Steel Raleighs to the line up. The Clubman and Roadsters harken back to a day that all bikes were made of steel and Raleighs ruled the road.Â
A new age of steel is upon us, and we’re right where we should be…at the front.

Well, this explains why I can’t find a One-Way w/in hundreds of miles–Basso’s got my bike! (Looks like I’m waiting until 2009…)
Any idea if he’s riding it fixed?

Generally nice work, there. Yays and boos follow.
Likes:
-High-clearance fork crown.
-Nice low-key graphics
-Longish chainstays
-Bar tape!
Dislikes:
-Woo, yet another pointlessly OS steel bike. If you really wanted to get ahead of the “new age of steel” curve, you could go back to non-OS steel. An even more classic look, with a MUCH nicer ride. Leave the OS for the loaded tourers and the ultra-Clydesdales.
-Sloping top tube, sort of.
-Black bits.

I’ll reinforce poster No. 2′s remarks, and, to really nit-pick, would add:
- The lugs. Heavens, where are the lugs?
But this might be asking you guys to throw the Wayback Machine (or is that a DeLorean in the company lot?) TOO hard into reverse. At least you’ve got the basic idea, as well as a relative lack of competition…I don’t see anything remotely resembling this from Trek, Giant or the like. Generally speaking, the Clubman truly rocks.

Mgl…thanks for the comments. We’re trying to get this steel thing rolling again. It takes time. The picture of the Clubman is a smaller frame so I think it looks like it has a sloping top tube.
BWB…ahhhhh, lugs. Yup. Again, we’re trying. Hopefully we can get those done for next year. And wait till you see it in person.

Beautiful bikes! Lugs or no lugs, its great to see. Masi has come out with with some great looking steel bikes too. But, you’ve got them beat on the spec – love that Brooks saddle. And the English racing green. When are the 2009′s coming out?
