WIN A ONE WAY
DirtRag just launched a brand new Magazine aimed at the Urban sect of riders. The first issue of BicycleTimes appears to be set up very similar to their popular DirtRag ‘zine. And if they continue to put out the quality everyone has grown to expect from them, the urban scene will be hooked. In their first issue they hit items that are close to home for the commuters here in Seattle, as they test various brands of Rain Gear.Â
BicycleTimes is now on the street, and with it comes your chance to win a OneWay. Pick it up today.

Wow

Suggestion for next year – respace the rear to allow for an internal hub. A Raleigh Eight-Way Alfine would be ridiculously awesome. Even better if you guys can get an STI shifter to work with it….

I am really impressed with the comfort bikes you have. They ride very smooth & light. The only thing I can complain a/b is the lack of colors you provide. I am going to buy one of your comfort bikes soon but have hesitated b/c I do not like either one of the two colors you provide. As with your saying, if your bike is not comfortable, and fun to ride (you have to like the color) who will ride it! Right on! What’s your next colors coming up in all your comfort bikes? and when? Thanks, Marsha

Marsha,
Our 2009 bikes just started rolling onto the bike shop floors. We won’t have pictures of the 2010 bikes for a couple more months.

It is great to see a publication focused on the real riders and not just the extremes, or the racers. For the last few years the trend has gone to simple and reliable transportation, and Raleigh has really made that sexy again.

I love my new 2009 One-Way. It’s a blast, but I was a little surprised to find a normal ramped chainring on the front as well as the track pedals. This seems like the sort of bike that normal road/touring pedals would be more appropriate on.
I’d also second akatsuki’s comment. A 130mm rear and some braze-ons for derailleurs or IGH systems would be nice. OTOH, I guess you’d have a Clubman, then.

I second, third, those asking for internal gear hub convertability on the One Way (Multi Way?). However, despite all their advertising, Shimano’s Alfine 8 is not the only or last word in IGHs. 3 speeds and 5 speeds tend to be much lighter and Sturmey-Archer’s 8 speed has some advantages over the Alfine.

Dear Editor,
In the 50′s, 60′s,70′s Raleigh is THE brand for bicycles in Malaysia. There are several versions, 2 colours(black and Green), 3 speeds (Sturmey Archer) and Brookes seat. Ahh those were the days. A much treasured luxury among the low income group. Will you introduce the bike Malaysia. I would love to have it. What a nostalgic reunion with Raleigh.

Don’t know where else to ask this with any likelihood of the question being answered:
Does the one-way have either a kickstand mounting plate, or enough space to clamp on a greenfield kickstand?
So many places around me have really badly designed bike racks that wont hold up a bike.
Thanks.

Dave,
The One-Way does not have a kickstand plate on it. However I have seen people with kickstands installed on it.

I owned two Raleighs while attending Kent State 20 years ago (both stolen) and am purchasing a new Raleigh Sport so I can ride on GOBA (Great Ohio Bike Adventure). Can hardly wait. Previous bike was a Trek 1200, but frame was too big.

I’ve been going nuts looking for a pair of the old ribbed 27″ wheel fenders from the old raleigh clubman bicycles with a spine rib with a chrome folded nose for the front and a candy red round reflector on the back. All these fenders where rolled and hollow formed with female and male intaglio tooled dies. Polish, Press and Drop production. Why do you folks start knocking out shiny silver stainless steel with a matte and high polish set no chrome plating needed. Just a suggestion with a few well termed instruction. Take care.
