COME BACK…
Factory Rider Andy has been out of commission lately. And used the Tour De Nez as a guage to see where he was at. While it was a comeback for him…it was an even bigger comeback for another name in the pack.

I raced the first stage of the Omnium at the Tour De Nez. First race is in Truckee, CA just outside of Reno. A great technical course downtown Truckee. Great crowds of cycling fans. You can tell cause they’re using stop watches and I Phones to give splits on breaks. I got to observe a lot, as I was out half way through 30 minutes in but not alone. At 6,500 feet and an NRC race, it was not a great come back since racing in March. The most difficult part was a 180 degree turn, sprints out of the saddle over and over again. I was cross eyed and crossing wheels, so decided to be safe and not the guy that eats it. Another difficult part was Chad Gerlack attacked early and we chased all night as he lapped the field with 5 to go to win. If the name is not familiar look it up, quite a story. He was on an episode of Intervention on A&E. Use to ride for US Postal then ended up homeless and on Crack. He was a total drug addict just a year or so ago. Pretty amazing. Tonight is the downtown Reno crit, one of my favorites of all time. I’ll try to hang in for the finish. Andy

Belguim Knee Warmers, as always, provided some great words about Chad Gerlacks comeback. Click here and read what they had to say.
