Dirt Rag Mag features Raleigh Mountain Bikes

The Raleigh mountain bike line was reviewed in Dirt Rag Mag's "Inside Line" feature as Raleigh is introducing a series of new full-suspension bikes for 2015, in addition to expanding the Tamland line to include aluminum models. Although Raleigh is not usually associated with mountain-biking, the 2015 mountain bike line is excellent for novice to advanced riders, especially when the price and spec's are considered.

For the advanced mountain-biker looking for a higher-end bike, the Skarn Expert and Skarn Comp are perfect. The Skarn Expert, which retails for $4,300, includes American Classic tubeless wheels, Fox F29 with FIT damper and Shimano XT brakes and drivetrain.

For the intermediate, singletrack trail-blazer the Kodiak 2 has Rock Shox XC32 Solo Air fork, Monarch R rear shock, 2x10 SRAM X7/X5 drivetrain, Tekro Auriga hydro disc brakes with 180/160mm rotors, and Kendra Honey Badger tires for the low price of $1,600.

For the rider that prefer the road over the trail, the Willard 1 is both budget-friendly and a great bike for all skill levels and preferences. Boasting a Shimano Sora 2x9 drivetrain, Clement X-Plor 700x40 tires, and TRP Spyre mechanical disc brakes, the Willard is an aluminum version of the very popular Tamland, which was regarded as the 'standard by which all other gravel bikes will be judged.'

Editor’s Note via BikeMag.com: “Raleigh has been in the bike industry for more than a century, and while the brand may have let its mountain bike line fade over the past few years, with the Skarn, clearly Raleigh plans on making a stand in the dirt once again.”
