Back Alley

A throw back to some of the first Raleigh bikes made over a century ago, the Back Alley is built to bomb alleyways, burn down hills, beat traffic and stop for a lock-up and reload at the local pub. Yep, this bike is all street. Nothing feels as connected to the pavement and rider like a track bike.
Designed with a Hi-Ten steel frame and track geometry, the Back Alley absorbs bumps and reacts fast. This fixie/single speed bike features flat bars and fixed/free (flip-flop) rear hub. It also offers a Raleigh Classic Road Saddle and removable cable guides.

With a few alterations, this is a very good bike.

I have owned my Back Alley since October 2015 and I primarily use it for my morning fitness rides around Milwaukee. The simplicity and price point of this single speed bike might cause a person to think they're perfect for having around just in case you need a bike, but this thing is a real work horse. I now have about 5,000 miles on mine and it works just like the day I bought it. It handles amazingly well on the varying qualities of pavement I ride over and you don't need to be shy if things get a little rough. With a few alterations, I would highly recommend this bike:. Those include: 1) Immediately switch the tires to Continental Gatorskins, and 2) Switch out the chain tensioners. After you do that, you'll be all set!

Handsome classic

This bike... brings you back to the days of old yard sale 10-Speeds. The one you bought for $15 from an old man's garage, took home and stripped to build custom rattle can-road hooligan. This bike... an instant classic for less than a weeks ransom. The "Back Alley" is an expertly crafted picture of what we had imagined whilst turning wrenches in dad's lawnmower shed... Had we only finished hand polishing all of those aluminum components or owned a professional spray booth. This bike... is that bike... all done up. I would be willing to shell out another $100 or so for a 4130 frame but this is a great bike none the less. The removable cable guides should be standard on "every" bike and the fit and finish are world class as with all Raleigh products.
