Overall Quality

The Merit 2 is my first upper entry level road bike, and I am very pleased with is so far. I tend to use it exclusively for fitness and setting personal records. It is marketed as an endurance road bike and that it is. It isn’t quick and nimble, due to its geometry, and it isn’t light, due to the frame material and the components used.
It is, however, a solid beginner road bike for a cyclist who isn’t trying to outperform anyone but his or herself. This bike out of the box is sufficient for commuting and semi-long rides (less than 25 miles). If you a really interesting in either increasing speed and/or increasing comfort, then you will have to change out some components. The tires need to be changed out with some that has a higher Tpi, probably above 120. The saddle, for my build, is uncomfortable and I’m a very average 5’10” 175, therefore, you may need a different saddle. Lastly, get some pedals that will secure your shoes: clips, clip-less, or straps.
I bought a 56 large and it works but I had to change the stem and make some saddle adjustments to get it just right. The disk brakes are good as no brakes are foolproof. All in all, I’m pleased with my purchase and I would recommend this bike especially if you can find it discounted..

I am 5 ft 9 and bought a large and it fits great. Bike rides great, gears shift great.
