Redux 26

Want to ride it all? From quick 7-11 trips and rides to school, to sessions at the trails, the skate park, and all the places in between, the Redux 26 is the bike to ride for everything, everywhere, all the time.

Designed for teens and tweens ages 12-16, this do it all bike is super slick and so fun it should be illegal! An urban assault bike, it eats potholes and manhole covers for breakfast, and gobbles curbs and cobbles for lunch. Like a mountain bike made for the city, the best-selling Redux 26 is the ultimate multiuse machine. Plus, it’s fast and clean.

Designed with a lightweight frame and integrated aluminum fork, the Redux 26 is light enough to lift up the stairs to school but durable enough for hardcore street use. Featuring 7 gears and mechanical disc brakes, this bike is smooth shifting and low maintenance with serious braking power for wet and dirty conditions. Big wide tires roll over almost anything in their path. Clean lines, bold block colors, minimal logos and overall good looks also make the Redux 26 a top pick.

Not quite there

I bought this for my boy. On our first ride we had a lot of problems with it. Excessive chain slippage, and an easily flattened tire (all it took was one tiny thorn).

However, most of the rest of the bike we liked. With a little more investment we transformed it into a bike that we really like. We replaced the rear derailleur and shifter with a SRAM X-3 set. Then we had to replace the grips. We used an ergo grip (with "wings") that are also much nicer. Then replace the tires with Schwalbe Marathon GT Tour that have puncture resistance and reflective sidewall. The reflective sidewall adds a better nighttime visibility, which I think is important for a kids bike.

Not a real Redux

I own a Redux 2 and I like it. So I bought this for my boy. But it's not even close. Right away, it started with severe chain slip. Once it slipped so bad his feet came off the pedals, he came off the seat and busted his.. groin on the top bar, rode into ditch, and crashed. The derailleur is junk. No quick release hubs. We got a flat with a little thorn, which is OK. We brought the wrench it came with with us. But this wrench is junk. It stripped the nuts and itself just cracked open. The front disk is not entirely flat and rubs the brake pad once per revolution. Completely disappointed.
