Talus 2 (2017)

When you hop on Raleigh's Talus 2 to ride down paved paths and streets, you can keep rolling when the sidewalk ends! At home on dirt, gravel, and pavement, this entry-level mountain bike will keep your adventure going when you decide it's time to head off road and explore the path less traveled.

The upright lightweight aluminum frame provides a comfortable riding position for your neck and lower back, and being upright gives you a better vantage point for spotting any obstacles in your path. The large 27.5" wheels and wide 2" tires help you easily roll over bumps and potholes with confidence.

Shimano EZ shift shifters offer you 21 different gears to get you through whatever may cross your path without having to move your hands off the grips. The Raleigh Mountain Plush Saddle ensures that your next ride is a comfy one.

Great bike. Excellent buy.

Overall Quality

I'm 68 and live in the mountains. I bought my last bike, new, in 1983. It was an upper-end Trek road bike. I fixed it up, recently, so I could get back into biking. It just didn't feel great. Plus I needed a bike with very low gears and gravel road handling. I decided to buy the Talus 2. It arrived in six days! and was easy to assemble (I was at one time an auto mechanic).
It rides so much better than my old Trek. Shifting (which required skill on my old bike) is effortless. Handling on gravel is secure. The low gears help this old man. I knew I would need to replace the pedals (inexpensive) and add a kickstand (easy). I thought I would need a new saddle for my bony butt, but I'm not sure I need it now. I do not and probably will not put "heavy" or "hard" use on this bike. I didn't think I needed the front suspension, but it is really nice. My old Trek had first-class components, but the components on this bike are better (amazing what difference 34 years make). The V brakes are excellent!
I think I'll buy another one for my wife.

A High Quality Bike! -

Overall Quality

The first day I got this bike I put 14 miles on it! Pros: Well built. Durable. Light weight. The type of shifters are a plus (no twist shift). Excellent on trails AND pavement. A great front suspension. The tires are big and beefy but also very light weight. This bike is also very fast despite it being a mountain bike.
Cons: after a 2 hour ride the seat gets a little hard.
Bottom line: Highly Recommend!!!!!!
